In the year 1996, Shop Services built the first web shop in Netherlands named shop.nl. e-commerce and web shops seeked assistance from shop services as they were the pioneers.
On October 1, 2006 Alpak BV and Shop Services merged and renamed Alpak Shop Services. Alpak Shopservices look after the fulfillment and distribution of the web shops among other: Hallmark, Pinkribbon, Vara, KRO, BNN, ZAPP, Zappelin, KIKA Kinderenkankervrij, Pink Ribbon Geluksarmband, AVRO, Boomfeestdag and Spykercars. IT Offshore is responsible for the development and maintenance of all the web shops and monitors all the web shops on 24 hour basis from a distance. The technologies used for these web shops are Java and Oracle database.
Jean Lahaye - Owner and CTO at Alpak Shopservices comments that for the past two years, the programmers of IT Offshore have been developing and maintaining the web shops from 12, 000 kilometres away. The price for the services rendered and the availability of the programmers at IT Offshore have been the major solutions for their business in comparison to these two factors in the Dutch market.
